difference in kernal32

i have an application which is using the system calls of windows98, like the Getprivteprofilestring, writeprofilestring,and writeprivatestring like,.. but when i am using this in windows 2000 or in Windows XP it is failing, is there any patches or methods which will help me to tackle this problem.
