What is the difference from defining your shared drive as C or C$. Searched
Google for 15 minutes and I can't find the answer to what seems to be a
simple question.

Having lots of problems getting my Win2000 machines to work on the WorkGroup
network, while the WinXP machines work fine. If anyone has a nice web page
for Win2000 networking step by step that would be great.

Adding the $ at the end of a share makes it hidden to
anyone browsing your network, it's also Administrator
access only.

I wouldnt agree with your last statement. You can make a hidden share ($)
accesible to any user you want.
All the shares in my computer are hidden, and I can access them from user
accounts.
it is true, though, that the C$ default share is ONLY accesible to admins.
