Depends on the TYPE of e-mail account. POP, IMAP, Exchange, HTTP, what?

If POP, make sure to tick the option to 'leave a copy of the messages on
the server'; do that before you start Outlook for the first time
(Control Panel | Mail).

Okay, but WHICH? POP or IMAP?

Don't know about Yahoo (thought they only had POP). Comcast only has
POP.

For POP, follow Pat's advice. That means your POP client will not do a
RETR/DELE (retrieve and delete) but just the RETR. Because the messages
are not getting deleted from the mail server, you'll have to do the
cleanup yourself (using the webmail interface) to ensure you don't eat
up all your disk quota with that account.
