I have been using xp for awhile and now my cdrw & dvd
drives are not showing under my computer. Device manager
shows an ! next to the drive names. I already tried to
unstall and reinstall the cd drives. Since I can not use
the cd drive I can not use the XP setup to fix problem.
unless I log on under win 2000 (I have both installed) or
use an old win 98 start-up disk. Can I reinstall XP on
top of the previous installation? Do I need to start
over with a clean install of XP? If I just lost a window
driver can I download another one.

Thanks

To tidy up, get a registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you use.
