How did I do that?

I am in the process of capturing all my existing tapes to WMM. While going
back and revieweing my progress I notices on a few of my tapes there is a
little bar at the top and bottom of the video. I remember doing something to
block the annoying static line at the bottom of the video because I am
capturing from analog but I can't remember what I did. Does anybody know what
I'm talking about or do you have other suggestions for removing that annoying
piece at the bottom?
