I am running Vista, with this laptop set to a resolution of 1440x 900 pixels
(as the maximum). Any dialogue box I open is never large enough to show all
the information, nor the response boxes. The dialogue for the printer will
not allow resizing. The worst case now is that I cannot download SP1 because
there is no 'accept' (as I assume) button to click on. All indications are
that the boxes cannot be re-sized, unless perhaps I go into the
registry...which I don't feel confident to do unassisted.

sure beats working

Either drop the rez temporarily to use the dialog, or learn to access the
button 'blindly' by tabbing the focus to the button, and pressing enter.
Once in low rez you could the count the number of tabs it takes to focus the
accept button.
