Found this interesting little program listed at shellcity.net :

DialogMate v1.54

"Minimize window to floating icon. Minimize window to tray. Always on
top feature. Favorites folders and files for default Open/Save file
dialogs. Quite a simple, works fine - and saves time."

http://www.weird173.net/apps.html

The unique "minimize window to floating icon" feature turns out to be
quite handy when you have many programs cluttering up the taskbar. You
can turn each taskbar button into an icon that is draggable, and that
you can place anywhere on the screen. I have mine stacked up neatly in a
row along the top of the screen, from where I can access them very
quickly, and also save myself a lot of Alt + Tabbing.

Also, "Minimize window to tray" seems to work perfectly with programs
that other system tray minimizers have trouble with (they tend to leave
behind a taskbar button e.g The Wonderful Icon).

Definitely a keeper !

Regards,
Mario

I love it - I have been using it for a while now. I have asked him to
add window roll-up in the next version and he said he would...
Currently, I run winroll that I stripped down to not conflict with
dialogmate. winroll let's me shade windows and is very very small as it
is written in Win32 assembly code.

I'm using WinRoll, me too, and I find it wonderful: only 300 KB in memory
and many useful functions.

Changing subject:

- DialogMate doesn't seem to work for me... it can't find DLGMATE.DLL,
even though it's on the program's folder.

Program: DialogMate
Author: Weird
Install: (n.i.)
Ware: (Freeware)
http://www.weird173.net/

I was just looking at this app. You'll find some answers here that may
help. IIRC you're using Win9x - the author recommends v 1.53 for those OS.
