Dialog Box on Task Bar

Word 2002 running on Windows XP - Every time I click on
the "File Open" Icon to open a document the Open dialog
box does not appear on the screen, instead it appears on
the task bar. I must then click on the task bar to see
the "Open" dialog box to select a file.
