I'm very unclear about dialling to an ordinary pstn number from an Outlook
Contact.
Are the options
1. buy a voice modem into which you plug an ordinary phone. Are such modems
still manufactured?
2. configure the dialer to use Skype? Is this possible?
3. use H323? What is this? Is it only to an IP address and not to a
telephone number?

Outlook uses whatever you have configured to be used as the telephone
provider in Windows. Check Control Panel for options in your version of
Windows.
