dial up connection is doubling up my password, and i
can't figure out why.
and when i manually change it i get a nonvalid error from
isp

Bill;
Are you referring to the extra dots?
That is normal.
The extra dots mask the actual number of characters in the password.
Don't worry about them and ignore them and it connects OK.
