Strange problem (strange to me anyway)... Just looking for stab in dark /
possible causes.
What we have: A windows 2000 pro computer used for file sharing and internet
sharing using a dial-up account w/Winproxy (all we need is email so it's not
that bad).
Problem: We recently switched our phone service to "XO" and since then, we
haven't been able to establish a connection to our ISP (hangs during
handshake). It's always been somewhat difficult to establish a good
connection but most of the time it was OK (just a little slow). We use one
of the 4 lines through our phone system (Dial 9 to get out).
What I've tried: Extra comma(s) after the Dial 9 (suggestion from XO).
Computer connects perfectly through our fax line. Computer connects
perfectly at my house. Called XO and Phone system company and both point
the finger at the computer as the problem.
It seems obvious to me that because of the computers ability to connect
perfectly on other phone lines (fax and home) that the problem is more than
likely an issue with the lines or the phone system.
Anyway, everyone's thought are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
