Dial-Up Connection glitch

When using the dial-up connection dialog box, I have the
following problem: If I enter my password and check
the "save password" box, my computer connects to the
internet for the current session. However, the next time
I try to connect with the saved information, I get
an "invalid user id or password" error, because 11 extra
characters have been added to my password, and I have to
uncheck the "save password" box, and re-enter my password
manually. Any ideas on what would cause the extra
characters to be added and how I can prevent this from
happening in the future?

Thank you,
Mary K.

Sorry Mary, that's how Windows XP works. It is a security feature to prevent
people guessing your password based on its length. I don't know why that
prevents you from logging onto the Internet and giving you an invalid user
id and password error. It should work.
