A dial-up connection could not be established

I installed Windows XP Professional on my Sony VAIO successfully...I tried to connect to internet using AOL 9.0 but I got the error message as "A dial-up connection could not be established".. This is the same message when I try to create a new connection using my network connections wizard..

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated... Thanks,.
