I recently have had a problem develop- possibly because I
installed Norton 2004Antivirus pro.
Problems:
1. dial up modem runs at 21-32kb/s. Before it was 45-48k/s
2. after about 1 minute I get a warning that my computer
will shut down because of a problem in C:\Windows\system32
\lsass.exe status code 1073741819.
3. When I tried to restore to an earlier time-there were
NO earlier times available. My laptop is 4 months old.
4. These problems continue after I uninstalled NAV 2004
Any idea re: what is happening? Who do I get help from?
MS says my WinXP is oem and I should talk to Fujitsu. Who
and where? IS Symantec a place to get help?
All help is appreciated.

CAUSE: Sasser Worm.

CURE: Disconnect from the network/Internet. From a known-clean computer,
download the following patch:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Install it on the infected computer before connecting to the
network/Internet again.

Then download this tool and run it to clean up the current infection:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

When done, evaluate you current antivirus protection and patching process.
Clearly you need more of both.

Thanks for the info.
I found this out searching on Google for lsass.exe and got
a complete page re: the Sasser Worm. Turns out I picked up
the Sasser E worm while connecting to Symantec to install
NAV activation. Great irony-eh?
