Dial incoming connections ICF rules

Hello !

I've been told that ICF was a per-interface filter, ie you can configure
different open ports for each interface.

But I've seen antoher thing.

I have this configuration

XP SP1 PC with :
- 1 ADSL USB connection
- 1 RTC incoming and call-back connection (the PC waits for someone to call
and call back to establish a connection)
- Remote Desktop

When I enable ICF on the ADSL connections, another computer an't connect
anymore with Remote Desktop via the RTC connection.

But when I allow Remote Desktop ports on the ADSL connection, it's ok, the
computer can connect with Remote Deskop via the RTC line on my PC.

So that seems that you change ICF settings on one interface, it affects
settings on the other.

One more strange thing is that there's no way to activate and configure ICF
on a dial-in, incoming and call-back connection (so I can't allow Remote
Desktop port on this only interface...)

Anything ?

Thanks a lot.

Tibo,

This doesn't answer all of your questions but does have
some good info on the technicals of how the ICF works on
networks and Internet Connections (so may help on some of
them, or maybe not ).

Thanks.

A guy on another newsgroup told me that ICF on dial-in connections is
enabled only on server versions...

Bye.
