I have successfully used DHTML effects on pictures, but I can't get it to
work for text. What am I doing wrong?

You need to select the text/link you want to apply the effect to.

Then select the options as you want them from the DHTML toolbar:

On: [mouseover, doubleclick, click, page load]

Apply [Formatting] (this would have 'image swap' if you were doing this on
images)

<Choose Settings> [Choose Font.... / Choose Border...]

What have you done to try and do this? Did you follow the above method?

Allison,
DHTML doesn't work on everything unfortunately. It requires certain
events to be available and not all HTML tages have them. Plain text by
itself doesn't have the DHTML events available in all browsers so FrontPage
doesn't let you do anything there. A link, however, does have these events,
which is why you can do things like an image rollover (it's actually working
from a link to effect the image). You'll need to make the text in question
into a link. The link doesn't have to go to any page in particular, and you
can set it so that it's just an #, which links back to the page. After the
text has been turned into a link, you can apply various DHTML effects to it.

I realize now I was too vague - sorry!

Yes, I've done all that you mentioned and yes I have selected a hyperlink.
Just tried again and the only option available is On: [page load]. Now for
pictures, all works as suggested.

I sometimes have to change the color of a hyperlink because it is not in the
white space on the page, but rather on a color. Thuscolors specified for
hyperlinks in the page properties are no longer visually appealing. All I'd
like to do is change the color on mouseover. I can get it to work in the
behaviors task pane, but not the DHTML toolbar.

Can't figure it out!

Just thought of something - That still doesn't answer why I can't use the
DHTML toolbar on a text hyperlink. But I am going to try CSS.
