Hi,
I've a basic question on DHCP Server configuration on MS Windows 2000
server.
RFC 2131 states that if 'giaddr' field in a DHCP message from a client
is non-zero, i.e. there is a Realy Agent between DHCP Client and
Server, the server sends any return messages to the 'DHCP server'
port (UDP Port 67) on the BOOTP relay agent whose address appears in
'giaddr'.
I'm running DHCP service in MS Windows 2000 server and using this
system as DHCP Server.
When this server receives DHCP DISCOVERY or REQUEST with 'giaddr'
field zero, it responds with DHCP OFFER or ACK with destination UDP
Port 68.
But, when the server receives DHCP DISCOVERY or REQUEST with 'giaddr'
field non-zero, it doesn't respond with DHCP OFFER or ACK with
destination UDP Port 67. Instead, it uses destination UDP Port 68
only.
How can I configure DHCP service in MS Windows 2000 server so that
server send DHCP packets
with destination UDP Port 67?
Thanks in advance.
rgds,
Saurabh
