devices do not show in My Computer

Hello
I am using Windows XP Pro SP1 on my compaq Presario laptop.
When ever I attach my Fuji Finepix camera or ipod to the
laptop, the devices are detected, but they do not show in
My Computer as removable drives, even though they do on my
Desktop PC. Therefore I cannot access my pictures on
the camera (ipod OK via iTunes but not as a drive, and its
listed in Hardware device manager and disk enabled in
iTunes Preferences)Drivers for both devices installed.

So I righjt click on My Computer and choose Manage, click
on disk management and Logical Disk Server manager cannot
connect, so I cannot access disk manager to assign a drive
letter.

Can anyone help please?
