I am having a problem with windows2000 and it not being able to find any
devices on my laptop. It is running at the lowest possible resolution, cant
find out any info about anything (mouse works and keyboard) and i was
wondering if there is any program out there that can detect devices so i can
download the drivers on my comp (my computer, not laptop) and fix my
problems. any help WILL be appriciated. Thanks.

Check the laptop manufacturer's web site for the downloads.

Do you mean that the system is not detecting the devices and requesting
driver files for them? If so, it sounds like your system is badly broken.
Something like corrupting the Windows\Inf directory would cause this type of
problem. The best fix would be a repair install operation.

That's horrible advice. Hardware components in many
laptops are specifically designed to NOT trigger Windows'
Add New Hardware wizard, so a repair (or in-place upgrade)
won't "fix" anything. Manufacturers try to force customers to
install their own proprietary drivers, not generic ones from MS.

Not in any laptop I've worked on and I wouldn't own one which was
designed that way.
