Device not listed in Safely Remove Hardware

I have a Zen Micro MP3 player. It had previously shown as a hardware device.
This device is no longer listed in the roster of items under Safely Remove
Hardware. I am able to charge the battery and transfer music from a CD or the
hard drive with the USB patch cord. How do I make this device show up in the
listing ? Do I need to reset something in the Registry ? I have reinstalled
the software for the Zen Micro. I am running XP Professional. Thank you for
your assistance.
