We're experiencing a problem with IBM NAS 100/ Win2k + IBM SCSI DLT
with Quantum tape drives.
The SCSI cable came loose, causing errors, which led the admin to
'Delete' the drives from the "Physical Location" pool under Removable
Storage. Since then, the drives have been reconnected, uninstalled,
reinstalled, and had the drivers updated, and yet Win2K refuses to add
them back into the Removable Storage system - despite our collective
best efforts, we cannot get them recognized in the Physical Locations
heading.
The drives/media changers are correctly installed, and have been
recognized in the past, so the drivers are supported.
The Event Log is showing device arrival requests being sent to the
Removable Storage service, but the service seems to be ignoring them?
Perhaps because it believes that the drives have been "deleted" and
should be ignored.
We've tried deleting the Removable Storage database to no avail.
The messages we're seeing are:
Received a device interface ARRIVAL notification for device:
\\?\SCSI#Sequential&Ven_QUANTUM&Prod_DLT7000&Rev_2560#4&25d34a74&0&050#{53f5630b-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}
Anyone know how to force Removable Storage to recognize and place that
drive into the database so that it can be used?
