Device mapping impossible for Power USers

In XP, it appears that it is impossible to assign a device
(printers specially) with the net use command unless the
user is local Admin. Did any one of you tried to use the
command NET USE LPT1 \\ server \ share /USER: username
password. For us it does not work, it refuses the user
name access to the device even if we use an administrator
password.
