Hi all,

I'm trying to run the Device Manager on a freshly installed Windows XP
SP3 machine. When I attempt to run the Device Manager, I get an error as
follows:

'MMC cannot open the file: C:\Windows\System32\compmgmt.msc'

I checked and this file does exist in the specified location.

This machine was built completely from a brand new installation CD.

Any ideas how I should proceed?

Thanks,

John

See if this works:

Click Start, Run and type:

regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Now go try Device Manager.

Hi Guys,

Thanks, that worked! I wonder, though, why it was necessary in the first
place?

Unfortunately I couldn't find a reason why when I looked awhile ago. I just
remembered the solution.
