In the System subpanel of Control Panel there is a link for Device Manager
under the heading "Tasks". I had used this several times before, but today
it has stopped working. Clicking it has no result at all. I can still get
to Device Manager by clicking Advanced system settings, and then selecting
Device Manager, but the more direct link is dead. Restarting the system did
not help. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how it can be
fixed? Now I am wondering if other links or functions will start going lame
....

Thanks in advance for any help.

i'll have to try a re-install
It worked before for as well.

I didn't even know it was there. So, thanks for the pointer. Mine still
works. You confused me with "system subpanel" a bit.

My Device manager link stopped working out of the blue too, is there a way to
fix this without reinstalling?

Do you see any error messages? The Event Viewer may give you some
kind of clue. The search widget in the Start menu is probably the
easiest way to find it. Try typing event viewer or log viewer.

No, no errors are logged and it displays no errror message. You click the
link and it doesn't work. Also the link to change your key code is another
link that stopped working. I'll assume around the same time. A reinstall
looks to be a solution to this problem but I'd really rather not. I'd really
like to know what caused this in the first place. If anyone has any more
information on what is causing this and how to fix it please share it with
us. It will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advace.

At last it seems I've found some people with the same problem!
I've been all over the web posting my cry for help - didnt get me anywhere
tho.
At least I know its not just my computer..

Be nice to know if its only a certain version thats causing the dead link
problem.

I've got Vista 64 Premium.. perhaps others could post up details of their
version ??

Wonder if its a recent windows update I've downloaded thats knocked this out
?.
