After installing 2 new Maxtor 60GB hard drives, Windows
sees one as "duplicate hardware" and gives error code 42.
I get a yellow exclamation point and can't see both drives
in Windows Explorer. If I uninstall the offending drive
(Drive C: no less!), reboot, then both drives are visible
in explorer but only D: (disk 1) is visible in Disk
Manager. Both drives are identical, and both are on the
Primary controller connected by a UDMA cable (80 wires).
Both drives were auto-detected by BIOS with no problems.
