device installer error

Recently,whenever windows is installing updates,i get several device installer messages saying "windows could not load the installer for"....."keyboard","mouse","hdc","computer",and "volume".Updates seem to be installing o.k.,but i have to be present at my pc to click o.k.whenever these messages appear,which is every couple of minutes.The installation can be quite slow too.I would appreciate any help or advice.Thanx.
