In the readme they go on and on about the incompatibilities of the 3.8
drivers, anyway I'm using the DNA 3.9 based drivers and see lots of
corrupt graphics in this demo, it looks like a memory overheat, but...
I'm using a Radeon 9600 Pro, and its not overclocked (and safe to say no
other games display graphic anomalies).

Plus it just doesn't look very good in general (that's my opinion of the
game engine itself, not a driver issue), I'm a bit disappointed. It
looks more like a console game than a PC game, especially the menu
interface. Any follow up to the greatest single player game of all time
was bound to pale by comparison I guess.

I think the problem is FSAA related. If I switch it off I get a clear
(though jaggy) image. I tried it with 3.7 and 3.9 and performance
seems the same, so I went back to 3.7.

Don't get me started in that one!

grabbed from Pluvious in another group:
make the below changes to the appropriate INI file, after removing the
read-only attribute.

SmallFont10__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
MediumFont16__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
HudFont12__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
HudFont14__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
HudFont16__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
HUD_HelpText__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
HUD_SmallText__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
HUD_CornerHelpText__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
HUD_DataLink__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
HUD_Inventory__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80
HUD_Convo__d=DX2_Font,0.6,0.80

Also you can fix the mouse lag effect by setting the threshold to 0.
Search for this command : "MouseLagThreshold=75".

Also in the user.ini in your doc folder. ..uncheck read only and change
this:

W=MoveForwardBackward 1.000000

and replace with the following:

W=MoveForwardBackward 0.800000

Makes it seem more like a PC FPS instead of a console one.

Whats DNA 3.9? what does the DNA stand for?

Your better off just using the real drivers.... ATI CAT 3.9 and see if that
fixes your problems. Go into the defualt.ini file and edit it to see better
graphics. they seemed to have disabled quite a alot of options, which you
can only enable through editing the ini file. Go here for info......
http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=8919419 and also go to
http://www.ionstorm.com and go to there forums... they have alot more tips
on editingthe ini. Beleive me, editing the ini, makes a big big difference
in speed and graphics..... Ion seemed to release this demo with xbox
configed settings.

I did all of the tweaks I could find, and can report that 1280x1024 with
everything turned on (fsaa turned off in drivers) is playable and looks good
(not great but decent) and is quite playable on a 2.2ghz athlon + 9700pro.

I still haven't figured out the interface, and the gameplay doesn't excite
me too much, but oh well.

im running it at 1600x1200, all details maxed, and ini files tweaked, and it
runs really smooth. Looks really good too. the lighting is great. try
shooting/touching/throwing something at the swinging lights. The realtime
lighting is awesome. graphics still dont look as good as doom3 though.
close, but not there yet. Running on a abit nf7-s (nforce2 drivers 2.03)
with a 2.2ghz athlonxp and a 9700pro (cat3.9)

What? The lighting that doesn't produce a player shadow and doesn't
produce shadows from your light mod? And it is real impressive that
you can't shoot out the lights.

Splinter Cell has downright awesome lighting, which was based on the
same core engine. DE2 is just plain lazy.

I know you cant shoot out lights and that would be cool if you could, but i
do get character shadows, and when the lights move, the character shadows
move too. they even cast onto the character too. I know splinter cell did a
good job, but so does dues ex2. I dont understand why people are saying the
graphics suck for this game.

I meant shadows for your own character, which was supposed to be
feature of the game, as was the ability to shoot out lights. The DE2
graphics are vastly inferior to Splinter Cell.

Don't know i its just me or not but although I get the excellent shadows for
existing lights, my pistol mounted torch and 'light' biomod don't appear to
cast shadows when they are shone onto npcs....

Hopefully things will be greatly improved before release and it wont end up
a dumbed down console game
