Hi Stuart Crow,
Since recent drivers aren't able to resolve this issue for you,
try these: OMEGA Drivers:

| Hello all
| Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but getting no joy anywhere
| else.
| Bought DeusEx Invisible War dvd version a few days ago, brand new
| copy, still shrinkwrapped, and cant get the thing to run.
| Installed direct from dvd, version 1.2. No patches applied. Installed
| with and without antivirus software running, complete uninstall
| between. Try to run, get black screen, then black window top left of
| screen, window disappears, game doesnt run, explorer crashes, start
| menu programs duplicated.
| Contacted Eidos and they suggested installing latest video drivers. I
| did this and lost Direct3D
| functionality. DXDIAG Direct3D tests all failed.
| Direct3D 7 test results:
| Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device):
| HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure)
| Direct3D 8 test results:
| Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device):
| HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)
| Direct3D 9 test results:
| Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device):
| HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)
|
| This was due to the new drivers. Installing drivers dated 17/12/2006
| fixed the problem.
|
| Now when I run the game I get the game loading,
| the intro plays and I can select a character.
| As soon as I select Start Game, however, the screen goes black and
| nothing happens. The only way out is a complete reboot.
| Can anyone offer any advice ?
