Our church has received a donated computer with Windows
2000. How can I detemine what service packs, if any are
installed? I want to find out what version of MS Office I
need to buy. The computer was "cleaned up" by the
donating company by use of the vendor's recovery disks, so
it has only the operating system on it.

Hi, you can use the "Winver" option, just type "Winver" on the RUN Menu (Without quotas)

If your donor cleaned up the system with the recovery
disks, you can probably assume that it is a raw
installation with no SP's applied.

In addition to the other answers you've received, you should note that the
version of Office you use is not dependent on the service pack level.
