Determining where email was created

Sorry for the cross posting:
Is it possible to know if an email has been created directly in Outlook or
from some other program? I ask because I have a com addin that implements
the item_send event. The problem is that when an email is created as a
result of using the send to-> mail recipeint from a file folder this causes
the file folder to freeze (I'm pretty sure this happens when I use
mailitem.move or mailitem.copy). So I want to be able to just not run the
code that causes the lock up when the email has been created this way.

Thanks!
