What's the difference?

's Computer Specifications

Offline files allow you to access a network share and then (typically)
disconnect your laptop and take it home and continue to work on the
files that were on the server. Automatic syncronization then occurs
when the laptop is connected to the network.

MyBriefcase is all handled locally.
