What determines the icon?

This is certainly not an item of earth-shocking importance, but I'm just
curious:
On the Controll Panel >> Add or Remove Programs screen, there is an icon to the
left of each entry.

I have AVG Free Edition installed, and that program's correct icon is a square
with yellow, green, red and black sections.

However, on the Add or Remove Programs screen the icon beside that program is
the generic "computer screen with a CD".

I Also have iDisk Utility for Windows installed. Its correct icon consists of a
wrench and hammer crossed behind a blue globe.

But, on the Add or Remove Programs screen the icon beside that program is the
four-colored square AVG icon.

On the "All Programs" screen, the correct icons are diaplayed (once you open the
folders).

As I said: I'm curious why this is so, and if this can be changed.
