DVD Drive ... ie is it a CD-R or a DVD+R or a DVD-R or a DVD+RW etc

The Disc Info function in apps like Nero will tell you this.

Push the eject button and look at the disk? Seriously, Nero includes a
utility to give you the disk info, there's probably other 3rd party apps, a
Google search should find something.

Thanks all for your help. The reason I am wanting to know is because I have
several blank (unmarked) media discs and just wanted a quick way to insert
into drive and get an indication of what type it was before attempting to
burn.

I have Nero so will have a look and see if it will do what I need.
