detect if the user has navigated away

hello.

i have a page using frame - a navigation page on the left ("nav") and a
content page ("content") on the right.

is there any way i can detect a change of the address of the page displayed
in "content" by adding code only to "nav"? (or to the parent page, if
necessary)
