Hello newsgroup,
I will be in charge of monitoring a few Windows Server 2003 on IBM xSeries.

The disks are in a RAID array (some on RAID1, some on RAID5), the driver is
IBM ServerRAID SCSI Dirk Device

Where can I see if one of the disks of the arrays is failing?
Is it enough to look in "Device manager" and check the message "this device
is working properly"?

Thanks for your help.

Usually there are also disk array management utilities installed, along with
the Windows disk management functions. I would contact IBM to see what they
offer for those arrays. In our Dell systems, the Dell software integrates
into the Windows Management software to add detection and management
capabilities. Windows does not even show the drive as a RAID array. You can
also take a look at the Event log to check on problems, if the software
reports these. The additional software can also add notification of events
in the form of system messages or e-mails. Hope this helped.
