This morning, after having Office 2003 on my machine for almost three years,
for the first time I clicked "detect and repair". (I won't bore you with
the "whys". Looking back on it, I should not have done so.)

Anyway, my personal email folders and my appointment calendar are history.

Is there a way to restore or retrieve these Office files? Or, did "detect
and repair" remove them permanently?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Ernie

PS I have an image of my hard drive saved on my home network as of one
month ago, but new appointments/folder information has been added since
then, and I'd like to get it back.

Thanks, Diane. With the exceptions of my "contacts", Calendar, and Personal
settings, I was at least able to retrieve all my folders and the vital,
updated information they contain. Also, before I forget, Kudos to you for
setting up such a superb site for beginners as a free service. Nice touch.

I searched your site for retrieving both the contacts folder, calendar, and
my prior, personal settings, to no avail. I know it must be I who is not
performing the proper search function or understanding some of what I did
find. Any ideas?

I'm finding it extremely interesting to realize where Office stores the
information it collects from me, and under what folder extensions it does
so. It's kinda fun digging into it. Sorta like a mining operation. )

As before, your expert suggestions/links are deeply appreciated.

Take care,

Ernie
