Detect Activity within Access using Windows API

I was looking at this article
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?id=128814 and started wondering if
there would be a way to do something similar but using a Windows API that
detects mouse or keyboard activity targeted within the Access application
window (the user is working within Access as opposed to another application).

I don't have a specific need for this, its more just curiosity.
