Can I change the default way XP displays files and folders from the "List
view" to the "Details view" format?

And can I also change the View | Arrange Icons default from "name" to
"type"?

Thanks!

Open My Computer to the My Computer top folder, Open the Tools menu, Folder
Options, View tab, and set the folder to "Details" view, then open the Tools
menu, Folders Options, View Tab, to set this as default for all folders.
You will also want the option checkbox for folders to 'remember each folders
view settings'

While in Details view, click the 'type' column header title and the sort
will change to by type.
