How do I make 'details' the default instead of 'icons' when I open windows?

Open an Explorer window (My Computer for ex.) and set it to look the way
you want. From the Tools>Folder Options>View tab, click on the button
that says to apply to all windows. You'll get a dialog box that says new
windows will open looking like this one.
