Desktop Won't Boot. Help!

All of a sudden, out of the blue, my desktop rebooted. Now, everytime it
boots up, Norton GoBack says that it rebooted my system because it had become
unstable.

I've "rolled" it back several times using GoBack, but each time it comes
back with the same error message.

Same thing happens when I try to boot into Safe Mode.

I also tried System Restore, that didn't work.

I tried booting with the Recovery Console, but all that does is put me into
a DOS command prompt window, which would be fine, except I can't create
directories onto my "D" drive so I can copy "Documents and Settings". Is
there anything I can do when using the Recovery Console that wil at least let
me save "Documents and Settings"?

Help!

Thanks!
Mike

Thanks for the link Rich.

According to my daughter's description of what happened, it looks like she
clicked a link that installed a virus on the PC (the "take a survey" window
started duplicating itself non-stop, until Norton shut the PC down).

Since the PC was running a little weird before this, I think I'll just go
ahead and wipe the drive, and install XP from scratch.

I have complete backups from a month or so ago.
