Hello Seph,

1) > (two overlapping monitors)

I suggest you visit MS-MVP Kelly's website and read
"Troubleshooting the Notification Area" at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_n.htm#na

2) > showing "folder tasks", "other places", and "details".

To remove "Common Tasks" from the Desktop,
I suggest you visit MS-MVP Kelly's website at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Note the instructions at the top of the page,
then scroll down to line 15,
(Remove Common Tasks from the Desktop)

Right-click the hyperlink, then click | Save Target As |
to download the file, "RemoveCommonTasksFromDesktop.reg",
then double-click and follow the prompts.

Maybe it's is where my NAV is, down below on a second row.
I am in the process of finding out how to get it back up
on the top row so I can pull the taskbar down to a single
row. Right click the taskbar and unlock it if it is
locked. Then use the little double arrow to pull it up to
see.

You need to drag it to one row by the left hand ridge on one.
