Greetings,

I'm wondering how others on campus configure either Group Policy or
Local Computer Policy for users, particularly with regard to desktop
permissions. Do you allow users to change wallpapers, add shortcuts,
turn on Active Desktop, change screensavers, etc.? Any comments on this
topic would be appreciated.

"on campus"?

1400+ computers in an open access lab with 40,000+ possible users.
Roaming profiles with the right to change resolution, wallpaper, add desktop
shortcuts, add menu items, add quick launch items, etc.
Works quite well, all things considered.

The information is provided "as is", it is suggested you research for
yourself before you take any advice - you are the one ultimately
responsible for your actions/problems/solutions. Know what you are
getting into before you jump in with both feet.
