I am working on Windows 2000 Professional. Off late, I have discovered that whenever I log on to my machine, the desktop shows the following error message instead of the wallpaper which I had set previously:
Microsoft Windows has experienced an unexpected error. As a precaution, your Active Desktop has been turned off. To restore the Active Desktop, use the following troubleshooting tips:
Did your browser stop working, or did you restart the computer without shutting it down first. If so, click:
[here's a button which says 'Restore my Active Desktop']
Did you recently add a new item to your Active Desktop? If so:
1. Right-click the desktop to open the Desktop menu, point to Active Desktop, click Customize my Desktop.
2.Clear the checkbox for the item you added most recently.
Do you want to turn off your Active Desktop? If so:
Right-click the desktop, point to Active Desktop, & then click Show Web Content.
The header of the above message is Active Desktop Recovery. It also displays an exclamation mark (!) encapsulated within a blue colored triangle towards the bottom right-hand corner. Is there any way by which I can permanently get rid of this nuisance? Also what could the reason be for the unexpected error when I log on to my machine the very first time? Please note that clicking the button 'Restore my Active Desktop' no longer displays the above message & reverts back the wallpaper which I had set earlier.
Thanks,
Arpan
