One more note: I also removed the $ share from the old folder location, but
did not delete the folder. Right now the old redirect folder is not shared at all. -- Brian A+ and Net+ Certified "Brian" wrote: > I just completed a network reconfiguration. It was nothing dramatic. Hi Brian,
What you did not do, is to use a Windows Registry Cleaner to clean the Windows Registry including the History found in the Windows Registry. http://www.tune-up.com/ TuneUp Utilities 2006 has a 30-day Trial version to use. You can always uninstall it. -- thecreator "Brian" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:C5D31D25-5641-4F3C-8327-(E-Mail Removed)... > One more note: I also removed the $ share from the old folder location, > but > did not delete the folder. I ran the registry cleaner you recomended and rebooted the computer. There
was no change to the problem. Hi Brian,
When you mention Desktop Computers and Desktops? Are we talking different physical computers or are you referring to User IDS' Desktops within a single computer? Is there software installed on the other computers, which might allow changes, but keep its own history? I am using Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2. Question: You moved the Target for My Documents from one Network Drive to another Network Drive. Do the User IDs' see the same location, when they click on My Documents folder on their Desktop? Did you lock the changes made, by rebooting the computers? -- thecreator "Brian" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:EAD90B2A-4BF8-4123-9247-(E-Mail Removed)... >I ran the registry cleaner you recomended and rebooted the computer. I am using Windows XP Proffesional SP2. All the computers are joined to a
domain and all users have their own profiles. Network Group Policy has "Desktop" and "My Documents" redirection enabled. All users have their own seperate "Desktop" and "My Documents" folders. I have 150 desktop computers on the network. No laptops are involved in this situation. When I say "desktops" as in desktop redirection, I am refering to the screen that comes up infront of you with the shortcut icons and wallpaper. It typicaly has the Internet Explorer Icon and the Recycle Bin Icon, etc. etc. Each individual person on the network has their own personalized "desktop" that appears in front of them when they log on, and it follows them to whatever computer they log onto. There is a folder within the redirection folder that carries this "desktop" information so that it will appear on their screen when they log in, wherever they log in. The exact same situation occurs with the "My Documents" folder. This is all stored on the server. No settings are locked. People are free to change there own personal "desktops" and contents of their own personal "My Documents" folders. -- Brian A+ and Net+ Certified "thecreator" wrote: > Hi Brian, > > When you mention Desktop Computers and Desktops? Hi Brian,
Thanks for the lesson / information. The changes you made were done from the server and forced on the Desktops. On my computer, I opened Explore. Under Tools in Home there are 3 options, plus Folder Options. The options are: 1. - Map Network Drive... 2. - Disconnect Network Drive... 3. - Synchronize... Can you at the server level, disconnect the Network Drive? Then Remap the Network Drive? -- thecreator "Brian" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:9889444B-BD38-48A5-A160-(E-Mail Removed)... >I am using Windows XP Proffesional SP2. This is not a mapped drive! This is Desktop/My Documents redirection done
with group policy on a network. These are two seperate and unrelated items. This has to do with the sync manager connecting to network folders. I need to know how to configure or alter sync manager settings. I know there are "check boxes" to uncheck items like your home page, but this goes deeper than unchecking the box. I already tried that setting. If you are using Windows XP Home and are not connected to a domain, or unless have any experience with Network Group Policy, or have an MCSA or MCSE certification, you won't be able to help.Your stand alone home computer will not be able to work through this problem because Windows XP Home does not contain the network functionality that I am dealing with. -- Brian A+ and Net+ Certified "thecreator" wrote: > Hi Brian, > > Thanks for the lesson / information. Hi Brian,
What you have said, is true. However I am indeed connected to a Domain, but use a different program to copy items than using Windows XP. But in Explore in Windows XP Home Edition, there is Synchronize... or more specific Items to Sychronize. I booted into Windows Vista Ultimate. This is a little different, but gave me a suggestion. Have you tried, instead of unchecking the listed item, to Right-click and select Delete, if available for the items to Sync? -- thecreator "Brian" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:2B01329F-505F-4554-BD33-(E-Mail Removed)... > This is not a mapped drive!
