I need my current icons to be a list on my desktop not icons... any ideas?

      7th Dec 2007
on my desktop i have icons representing files. in my folders i have "list"
view of files in the folder... my desktop is becoming full of icons and i can
increase the number of items on my desktop if i make them lists view of files

I don't think you can do that on the desktop. What you can do is
create folders (right-click|New|Folder) on the desktop and organize
your icons into them.

As far as I know, there's no way to directly do what you want. However
if your desktop is full of icons, you should probably reduce their
number. You can do that in two ways:

1. Simply remove the icons you use only seldom. You can still get to
the programs these are shortcuts to from Start | Programs.

2. Consider grouping similar icons in folders on the desktop. For
example, create a folder called Games, and put it (or a shortcut to
it) on the desktop. If you then move the shortcuts for all your games
from the desktop to this folder, you will have fewer icons on the
desktop.
