Desktop icons are shifting

My desktop screen saver is set for password protection on resumption. After
resuming work I find that the lower two arrays of desktop icons have shifted
downwards, so that the bottom array is partially off-screen. Annoying but not
serious, but is there a reason and a cure for this?

Try control panel,display,desktop,web,locate & check the box "lock desktop
items",close out..
