Desktop Icons/Display of Icons

Not sure what I have done to create this 'opportunity'
but would appreciate some assistance to resolve it.

Normal desktop has all of my icons displayed BUT when I
click on my LOTUS Spreadsheet icon, the desktop changes,
the screeen goes dark, blinks, and then the icons become
larger and I can NOT get all to display on the screen. So
where did I change the size of the icons to something
other than the normal selection I have previously made.
