Running XP Pro. When I click and drag a desktop icon, as
soon as I let go of it, it returns to its original
location. I can't find ANYTHING in the help about this
issue, so hopefully someone here has a suggestion. I've
tried turning on and off the "Auto Arrange" and "Align To
Grid" settings, but nothing works.

HELP!!!!! This is driving me nuts - it's like there's a
gremlin on my desktop.

Hello
Right click on your desktop hold the mouse on Arrange Icons By and remove
the check mark from Auto Arrange.

This turned out to be a profile issue. Deleting my old
user profile solved the problem, although setting
everything up again was a bit of a PITA.
