Hello,

I have a lot of icons on my desktop. Unfortunately I can't use
folders for grouping them, because in Folders the Shortcuts
don't work. Any hint?

Thanks and greetings
Udo

Shortcuts work in folders just as they work everywhere else. What do you
mean when you say "in Folders the Shortcuts don't work"? What happens when
you try? If you get an error message, please quote it verbatim.

thanks for your comment. I checked it again, the problem is that
you must delete and then reassign the shurtcut in the folder.
When you just move the icon (with already assigned shortcut) to
the folder, it doesn't work. I realised that after I moved the icon
back to the desktop and the shortcut didn't work anymore. That
behaviour is from my point of view a little bit strange...

Greetings
Udo

Are you saying that you create a desktop shortcut, then move it to a folder,
and the shortcut ceases to work when it's in the folder?

It's exceedingly strange. That's not normal behavior either. I've never
heard of something like that happening, and I suspect that you're mistaken.
If I were you, I'd check that again.

some news concerning that nasty problem. Even when I get a shortcut
assigned as mentioned it only works for some days. Then the shortcut
suddenly doesn't work, but is of course still defined.

I hope that someone could check this. I need a solution for that
problem. Is it possible that the problem only happens due to my
German version of XP?

Thanks for any efforts
Udo

just for understanding - the description of my problem is the entire
thread. What should I quote?

Greetings
Udo
