It 'sounds' like your User Profile has become corrupted due to the
presence of Zone Alarm, Norton, and Registry Mechanic & TuneUp
Utilities. If they've all been installed for the past 2 years then I'm
very surprised that XP has survived this long.
Using the router's hardware firewall in conjunction with the native XP
firewall will provide more than sufficient protection for the system.
If you insist on keeping all of those 'programs' then make sure that you
backup all of your personal data regularly and see -
